About this property

Welcome to Moorville Hall

Situated on Leek Road in Stoke-on-Trent, Moorville Hall is a 4.2-rated hotel offering a blend of classic charm and practical amenities. The building reflects a traditional style with spacious, if somewhat dated, rooms that prioritize comfort over modern design. Guests have noted the character of the property, including a traditional pub atmosphere in the attached bar, which serves as a social hub within the hotel.

The hotel provides a range of facilities such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, and a kid-friendly environment, along with a bar and free breakfast. While it does not include a pool, it offers access to a gym and sauna, which previous visitors have appreciated despite some mentions of the premises needing updates. Noise levels and aging fixtures have been mentioned in reviews, indicating that some areas may feel worn, but the overall value for money remains a common theme.

Its location is convenient for visitors aiming to explore local attractions, being about a 25-minute drive from Alton Towers, as well as close to Trentham Estate and The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. These nearby destinations offer opportunities for sightseeing and recreation, making the hotel a practical base for visitors interested in outdoor activities and cultural sites around Stoke-on-Trent.

Travelers by air will find Manchester Airport, Birmingham Airport, and Liverpool John Lennon Airport all within roughly one to two hours by car, providing reasonable access for both domestic and international arrivals. Nearby alternatives include smaller accommodation options, but Moorville Hall stands out for those seeking traditional hospitality with simple conveniences in a less tourist-heavy setting.

Guests looking for a cost-conscious stay where relaxed social spaces and access to recreational facilities are important may find Moorville Hall suitable. While it may not appeal to those seeking modern luxury or silence, it serves well as a functional and friendly place to rest amid regional attractions and offers a familiar British country hotel experience.

For a budget hotel, it's perfect! It has a pool, it has a gym, it even has a squash court!! The attached bar is a traditional "Woolpack" style with 3 pool tables and friendly staff. Yes, it is a little run down and could do with a carpet upgrade, but that's what slippers are for! Please do not go here as I don't want it fully booked when I go back!!!

I'm giving this hotel a generous 4 stars because of all the facilities (I didn't make use of) and it's massive size and space. The hotel itself is grandiose but its very dated which isn't an issue for me as what I care about the most is a comfortable night's sleep. The main issue with the hotel is the noise transfer. Our room actually shakes a little every time someone walks past, and then there's the door squeaking and slamming. Not so bad during the day but at 11pm and beyond with inebriated guests leaving their consideration at the bar earlier your sleep is continually disturbed. Other than that the rooms are warm and clean with hot water and very competitively priced. If you want luxury look elsewhere, if you want a cheap place to crash after your visit to Alton towers this is the place for you!

Not sure about all the negative reviews, this is a great hotel for the price. Yes they play loud music at night, yes the rooms are a bit tired, but just get yourself down to the on-site pub and have some fun Would defo recommend for an alton towers visit (that’s why we stayed) as it’s ~25 min drive away. Don’t bother if you’re expecting the ritz though. We were only meant to stay 1 night but paid for another. Can’t fault it!

For the price and everything included with the room this place is definitely worth it! There are things that could’ve been better (like we didn’t like the bathroom being carpeted, the room had very old sink/toilet/shower with stains, a private party was going on till past midnight on saturday right below our room that felt like it was shaking up whole room) but the amenities like the swimming pool, gym, sauna make up for it and make it worth the price. The place is being renovated so I understand some of the low points but for what we paid it was worth it. The location was good too!

I've only ever visited for the odd wedding reception and party, but I've always found the place really nice, with a good vibe. The building is beautiful and decor quite prestigous. The trick is to nip into the adjoined pub, which serves a wider selection of drinks and tends be less busy than the main bars.

The only thing I didn't like about moorville hall was the fact they didn't do breakfast but there was an awesome wee farm shop a couple of hundred yards down the road that sorted that problem. The staff at the moorville are polite and friendly and the facilities are quite good. We went swimming and had a shot in the gym then headed over to the bar for a few games of pool and played some tunes on the jukebox. The rooms are a bit dated but we weren't holidaying there, we were just using it as a base and it didn't disappoint in any way, cheap and cheerful would be a fitting phrase to use. They do serve food at night in the bar which is ok. We will definitely use the hotel again when we visit Alton towers next time.

A Most Civilised Retreat: Hospitality at Its Unfussy Finest In the quiet hierarchy of lodgings, one occasionally stumbles upon a place that does not trumpet its virtues, but rather wears them lightly — a hotel that offers not extravagance, but restoration. I recently had the pleasure of staying at such a place, a hotel whose nightly rate (£40, almost implausible in its modesty) belies a deeply comforting, near-vanishing standard of English hospitality. The building evokes a classic, old-world charm — a throwback to a time when hotels were run with instinct rather than software, and comfort was measured not in designer flourishes, but in quiet space and human presence. The rooms are generously proportioned, not showy but spacious in a way that grants one the rare privilege of breathing fully indoors. It is the facilities, however, that elevate this hotel from mere accommodation to retreat. A pool, a sauna, a steam room, and a gym — all included, all immaculately maintained — offer that rarest of modern gifts: permission to pause. There is no corporate sheen here, no ambient music piped through sterile corridors. Instead, there is silence, warmth, and the steady kindness of real staff providing lovely, personal service with no need for scripts. The sauna, in particular, deserves praise — hot, honest, and elemental. One emerges not just refreshed, but somehow clarified. That I am returning tomorrow night is no coincidence. This is, without exaggeration, the best value-for-money hotel in England — and possibly the world. A hotel that reminds us how much can still be offered when the goal is not trend, but care. Five stars, emphatically. May it never change.
